5 herbal home remedies for treating mosquito bites

Mosquitoes are omnipresent. They reside both indoors and outdoors. What’s more, they have annoying bites, which can be painful, itchy, and turn blotchy, causing your baby much discomfort.

Moreover, your baby’s skin is sensitive which is why topical or chemical-based agents are to be avoided. Natural home remedies are therefore much better.

Here are 10 simple but effective herbal remedies to treat mosquito bites on your baby:

Baking Soda

Since baking soda restores pH level, one teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in 1 cup of water alone will quickly lessen itchiness. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and apply it to the bites. Let the solution take effect for 10 minutes before washing it away. But if your baby’s skin starts itching, discontinue its use.

Lemons

Lemons are a natural cure for mosquito bites since they provide anaesthetic and anti-inflammatory benefits. Slice a lemon into two pieces and gently rub it over the affected regions or apply a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice on the skin. The swellings will disappear after a while.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Give your baby a warm bath with two to three cups of apple cider vinegar. This works fine for soothing multiple mosquito bites on your child’s body but can cause dryness if your baby has drier skin than usual.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has natural antiseptic remedies and is thus good for treating itching, swelling, and pain that come with the mosquito bite. Keep the Aloe Vera solution in the fridge for around ten to fifteen minutes and then gently rub it over the affected areas.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste varieties that are free from Fluoride and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate are the ones you should choose to treat a mosquito bite. Dab over affected areas to alleviate itchiness and painful swellings. However, frequent use of toothpaste is not recommended.

Mini Insects Killer

Try out these simple home remedies and notice an immediate difference. But if your child shows signs of fever or develops rashes after being bitten, it is time to consult a doctor. The non-toxic Insect Killer is safe for the environment and kills mosquitos by attracting them to its light source and then trapping them into the mosquito tray under a strong cyclone.
